AEW Blind Tag Team Title Tournament Finals Set

AEW Blind Tag Semi-Final - MJF & Adam Cole vs. Brian Cage & Big Bill

Four teams have been whittled down to two, as the final match of the Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament is now set for next week’s AEW Dynamite.

The concept of random pairings is certainly not new in the world of professional wrestling, however an entire tournament of teams which have been forced together rather than being by choice is not a common occurrence. That’s what we’ve seen over the last few weeks in AEW, with the final match set to take place on the 19th July edition of Dynamite, which takes place at TD Garden in Boston and will also feature the Blood & Guts match.

On this week’s episode of AEW’s flagship show, the two semi-final matches took place. The first of those featured Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy taking on Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara. Whilst it was the latter team which managed to get the win and advance, it wasn’t without incident as Swerve Strickland managed a blindside attack on Allin which allowed the opening for Guevara to get the win.

The other semi-final featured the most touted unlikely duo of AEW World Champion MJF and Adam Cole, who went up against the powerhouse combination of Big Bill and Brian Cage. Although it may have looked on paper like Bill and Cage could go through the tournament, that wasn’t the case and Cole got the victory following the boom knee. Post match, it appeared that the two had worked out how they are going to co-exist quite so well, looking to become the new World Tag Team Champions.

So you can add Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia vs. MJF and Adam Cole to the Blood & Guts match as the two contests confirmed for next week’s Dynamite. Both teams will be keeping a close eye on Saturday’s Collision, where FTR will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Jay White and Juice Robinson in a two out of three falls match.
