3-Time WWE World Champion Will Never Wrestle Again
A former WWE Universal Champion shut down the rumors and speculations of him ever wrestling again. The legend in discussion is none other than Bill Goldberg.
Bill Goldberg arrived on the pro wrestling scene with his WCW debut back in 1997. He had a legendary run with the longest undefeated streak and held the World title once as well. After WCW closed down in 2001, Goldberg had a brief run in Japan before eventually making his WWE debut in 2003. During his one-year run in 2003-04, Goldberg also won the World Heavyweight title.
In 2016, Bill Goldberg made his WWE return after years of absence and had an amazing second run with two Universal title reigns, and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017. In July last year, Goldberg wrestled his retirement match, in which he challenged Gunther for the World title but lost. The former Universal Champion has been away from the pro wrestling scene ever since his retirement match last year.
During an interview last year, Bill Goldberg opened up about his plans following retirement from wrestling, saying he is relaxing and enjoying his YouTube thing right now:
I don’t know, man. I’m just trying to relax right now. Everybody keeps asking me what’s next — nothing. I stopped.
Yeah, I’m enjoying this YouTube thing with my cars because I need to start doing it more regularly. I think I’ve done like three videos in six months because of the retirement match. But I’m just going to start fixing all my cars. No wrestling.
Well, certainly not for Expendables 12. They’re not calling right now. Like I said, I’m just completely relaxing at the moment because I haven’t done this before, Bill stated.
WWE Hall of Famer has no intentions of an in-ring return
Bill Goldberg appeared on the recent Memphis in May Barbeque Cooking Competition alongside his son, Gage. On being asked if he will ever wrestle again, Bill straight up refused with the following answer:
Absolutely not.”
Goldberg further stated that while he has passed the torch, his son, Gage, will be doing it in the future:
“100%. And like I said, I passed that torch already. So, he’ll be doing it,” said Bill. [H/T Sportskeeda Wrestling]
Although Bill Goldberg has no interest in wrestling again, fans will have to wait and see if he will be making a pro wrestling appearance in any other capacity.
