2-Time AEW Champion Set To Miss Dynamite For Personal Reasons
A two-time former AEW Champion has been pulled from tonight’s Dynamite taping.
Brody King kicked off 2026 with the intention of becoming the new World Champion. He became the #1 Contender by beating MJF in an Eliminator match during the February 4 taping of Dynamite.
During their title match at Grand Slam Australia, MJF worked on King’s injured leg to gain an advantage and dominate the majority of the proceedings.
In the closing minutes, he hit a tombstone piledriver on King on the ring apron and followed it up with his Heatseeker finisher for the win.
Brody subsequently entered a feud with Swerve Strickland in a bid to determine which one of the two was the most dangerous man in AEW.
Their rivalry culminated in a singles match at Revolution in March, which Strickland won in a hard-hitting contest.
Ever since, Brody King has been featured in tag team scenarios—wrestling and non-wrestling segments.
On last week’s Dynamite episode, he teamed up with Kenny Omega and Jack Perry to defeat The Demand’s Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, and Toa Liona in a trios match.
Brody King To Miss AEW Dynamite Due To Personal Reasons
On April 8, AEW President Tony Khan took to X to reveal the line-up for the upcoming Dynamite taping.
He revealed that Brody King was pulled from the show due to personal reasons. King was scheduled to compete in a trios match, teaming up with Darby Allin and National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry against the Don Callis Family trio of Konosuke Takeshita, Andrade El Idolo, and Mark Davis.
Khan revealed in his tweet that King’s tag partner, Bandido, would sub in for him.

Brody King and Bandido began teaming up in AEW last year. The duo won the World Tag Team Championship at Forbidden Door by defeating FTR and The Hurt Syndicate.
They dropped the title to FTR after 90 days in November at Full Gear.
Tony Khan’s update does not reveal the specific reason for his absence or the duration for which King will be away from television.
Also on the show, Chris Jericho will address his return to the company after nearly a year. TBS Champion Willow Nightingale will defend her title against Queen Aminata, whereas Kenny Omega will address the fans.
