New Matches Announced For WWE Extreme Rules; Updated Lineup

TJR Wrestling

World Wrestling Entertainment’s next pay-per-view event will be Extreme Rules on May 22 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Following this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, new matches were announced for Extreme Rules. There were also several matches alluded to for Extreme Rules that are very likely to happen. The updated card is as follows:

Please note that (c) refers to the champion/s heading into the match.

Extreme Rules Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles

Submission Match for the WWE Women’s Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya – Ric Flair is banned from ringside.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains

The following has not yet been officially announced for Extreme Rules, but will likely happen after what transpired on this week’s Raw.

Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose

WWE United States Championship: Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev (Rusev won the #1 contendership, but it was not said that the match would take place at Extreme Rules. It’s also not on WWE.com’s website under the Extreme Rules preview. Maybe this means that will possibly happen on the next two Raw’s before the PPV. Then, the U.S. Title match would be a multi-man match at Extreme Rules involving the other former League of Nations members and maybe Zack Ryder. However, I don’t want to see that nor do I think it will happen as Kalisto vs. Rusev will likely take place at Extreme Rules.)

WWE Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

Emma vs. Becky Lynch (This is the only prediction I feel is a bit of a stretch, but it can still happen after Emma cheated to beat Becky on this week’s Raw.)

Mark’s reaction: Similar to Payback, this is a solid lineup. There are several rematches from Payback, but this time around they have stipulations (I’m assuming Jericho vs. Ambrose will add a stipulation too). I think it has the potential to be an above average show due to the potential quality of the matches and the fact that I have a hunch something big will happen in the Reigns vs. Styles main event. I’m thinking that either someone’s turning heel or Finn Balor makes his main roster debut.
