4 Current WWE Stars Who Reportedly Hate Each Other In Real Life
In WWE, compelling storylines are often created based on stars hating each other. While some of these hatreds are not real and are heavily exaggerated for a storyline, some are based on legitimate backstage heat.
Often, the line between scripted drama and legitimate backstage heat gets blurred on TV, so sometimes it is hard to notice if the hatred is real or just for the purpose of storytelling.
That said, here are some names in the Stamford-based promotion that hate each other in real life.
1. CM Punk And Seth Rollins
CM Punk and Seth Rollins are the most obvious example of a real-life feud in WWE. It is also one of the most famous long-standing personal dislikes in modern wrestling. Rollins has been vocal about his hatred for Punk ever since the Second City Saint left the Stamford-based promotion in 2014.
Rollins used to idolize CM Punk, so when Punk left WWE, Rollins felt that he had ghosted everyone who stayed in the company. Rollins even went to such an extent that he called Punk a “locker room cancer” and “a fraud,” and viewed Punk’s 2023 return as hypocritical and self-serving.
2. CM Punk And Roman Reigns
CM Punk also has a history of a personal feud with Roman Reigns. It all started in 2014 when Punk famously stated on podcasts that WWE urged him to make Reigns look very strong.
Reigns has also criticized CM Punk in numerous media appearances and called him “sensitive”. The two stars have brought their real-life heat to a compelling storyline in which they are set to collide at WrestleMania 42 for the World Heavyweight Championship.
3. Rhea Ripley And Jade Cargill
The real-life tension between Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill is relatively new and started recently after Mami became the number one contender for Jade Cargill’s WWE Women’s Championship. The two are set to collide in a WrestleMania 42 match, and the build-up to the match has seen some tension that might go beyond TV and into real life.
After Ripley won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, Jade Cargill took to Twitter to insult her opponent, which is usually what WWE stars do to spice up their storyline. However, Cargill made some comments that broke the fourth wall by bringing up Ripley’s backstage influence with the creative team.
Jade Cargill saying this reportedly did not sit right with Ripley and is said to have started some backstage heat between the two. Even on a recent SmackDown promo, they took shots at each other that felt somewhat real, given that they went somewhat off topic and targeted each other’s appearances and bodybuilding.
4. AJ Styles And Paul Heyman
In 2020, the Stamford-based promotion released AJ Styles’ closest friends, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, also known as The Good Brothers. Styles believes that Paul Heyman was personally responsible for their release.
Styles has publicly called Heyman a “bold-faced liar,” accusing him of going behind his back to push for their firing while pretending to be unaware of the situation. Styles even requested a move to SmackDown specifically to get away from Heyman.
