Cody Rhodes Praises “Incredibly Creative” Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt

Speaking on a media call ahead of AEW Homecoming, Cody Rhodes praised the recently released Bray Wyatt.

Rhodes was asked by Nick Hausman for Wrestling Inc, whether there would be a spot for Wyatt in AEW. The AEW Vice President refused to be drawn on whether the star could be AEW-bound, before praising his former colleague.

The former TNT Champion then went on to say that Wyatt has the ability to fit in anywhere as he’s a very “special, special talent.”

“Bray Wyatt, before he was Bray Wyatt was my rookie on the second season of NXT and the Rotunda family and the Rhodes family go way back. I can’t comment on whether I see a spot for him when it comes to us, but I can tell you, he’s an incredibly creative individual, and an incredibly creative man.”

“Whenever I see anyone like that, lose their job or move into the next phase in their career, as someone who left WWE on my own, at the time that was super unheard of to leave, I can’t be everyone’s sounding board but I really want to be. I’ll give you an example, I’ll pivot away, I would never have thought that Matt Cardona would have ended up being the GCW Champion and getting pelted with trash, but I should have thought that he would be doing something. To circle back to Bray, I can’t comment if he fits in with us but I can say if he has an ounce of passion for this, that guy can fit in anywhere, because he’s a very special, special talent.”

Bray Wyatt was released by WWE on July 31st due to budget cuts, having not appeared in the ring since WrestleMania 37.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider went on to confirm that budget cuts were the reason for the departure, before revealing that one source has “pointed the finger squarely at WWE President Nick Khan and CFO Kristina Salen.” Adding that the pair are “obsessed” with the company not being on iota in the red.

The report went on to say that the relationship between Vince McMahon and Wyatt at times ran very “hot and cold.”

Away from Bray Wyatt, Cody Rhodes is set to face another ex-WWE Superstar in the form of Malakai Black at AEW Dynamite Homecoming.

The man formerly known as Aleister Black in WWE arrived in AEW on July 7th in stunning style. The demonic Dutchman appeared from the darkness laying out Arn Anderson and then Cody Rhodes as he tended to his fallen mentor.

On night two of Fyter Fest it was announced that Cody Rhodes and Malakai Black will now attempt to settle their differences in the ring on August 4th.
