CM Punk Gives Strongest Hint Yet That Daniel Bryan Is AEW Bound

Appearing on the August 25th edition of AEW Dynamite, CM Punk has given the biggest hint yet that Daniel Bryan could be heading to AEW.

Speaking during an in-ring interview with Tony Schiavone, Punk initially talked up his match with Darby Allin at All Out on September 5th.

Punk said that he would be a fan of Darby Allin if he were a 15-year-old watching at home, before praising AEW’s young talent. However, the biggest cheer of the segment came when Punk hinted that there could be another former WWE Superstar heading to the company.

As Punk spoke, the crowd chanted “Yes!” in a way made famous by Daniel Bryan in WWE. Sporting a large grin, Punk said that fans might have to be a little bit more patient for that one, stopping just short of referencing Bryan by name.

To further hammer the point home, Bryan later took to social media to share a photo of a handshake. But not just any handshake. It was a close up of a handshake between himself and Daniel Bryan, aka Bryan Danielson, from ROH in 2004.

Shortly after it was revealed that CM Punk was in talks with AEW back in July, news also broke suggesting that Daniel Bryan was also on his way to the company. The report stated that Bryan had done a deal with AEW, while it was later reported that he would be making his debut in New York.

The New York show referenced is AEW Grand Slam which is scheduled to take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 22nd.
