One city seems to be inching closer to being named as the host of WrestleMania 41 but a note of caution has been urged.

The 40th edition of WrestleMania will see Cody Rhodes challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship for the second year in a row as The American Nightmare looks to finally finish his story. But looking forward to another year, it seems a frontrunner has emerged to host WrestleMania 41.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune has reported that Minnesota Sports and Events has made a bid to bring WrestleMania to the U.S. Bank Stadium in the Twin Cities. MNSE’s President Wendy Blackshaw noted that she was hopeful that Minneapolis’ bid would be successful but stressed that bidding for the event was “very competitive.”

WWE Inching Closer To Minneapolis

On the back of that Fightful Select has offered an insight into Minneapolis’ chances of hosting the event and it seems good for fans in Minnesota.

The report notes that while WWE officials will not confirm or deny the destination for WrestleMania 41, “people of influence” in Minnesota are already prepared for the announcement which is expected in the very near future.

At a recent public event, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz indicated that WrestleMania was on its way:

“This is the place to be. Those are the things we need to be doing. So, for all of you attracting folks here, attracting conventions. Whether it’s coming up with the USA Gymnastic Trials or the US Junior Hockey Championships. (Walz then points to Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan and says) “And we’re not going to forget WrestleMania and things like that. (crowd laughs). You know, when they told me that, I’m like, oh, but want to know best about this? (points to the crowd) That thing is a $20 million dollar impact in the local economy. It’s big.”

However, the report also suggested Minnesota officials should be cautious as there was a feeling that their being “loose-lipped” about their attempt to get the major WWE show in the past has cost them leverage.

There have also been rumours of Las Vegas being the host city for the 2025 event but Fightful noted that they had been told if a deal had been in place with Sin City it would likely have been announced at the WrestleMania Kickoff event held in Vegas where the Rhodes/Reigns main event was confirmed.
