WWE News: Vote in the Smackdown Greatest Superstar Tournament

TJR Wrestling

A tournament has been announced by WWE to crown Smackdown’s Greatest Superstar in honor of 20 years of Smackdown. You can vote on WWE’s social media platforms. You can see the brackets at the top of this post.

For 20 years, SmackDown has been home to some of the most iconic Superstars in all of sports-entertainment history. But who is the greatest? That’s up to you!

Right now on WWE’s official Twitter page, Instagram Story and Facebook Story, you can decide which blue brand competitor will advance to the next round of the SmackDown Greatest Superstar tournament. The 16 first-round matchups, featuring 32 SmackDown stalwarts, were seeded according to Superstars’ win percentages in matches that took place on SmackDown. The winner of the SmackDown Greatest Superstar tournament will be announced next Friday prior to SmackDown’s debut on FOX.

The tournament is broken into four distinct regions based on legendary Team Blue General Managers: Paige, Teddy Long, Vickie Guerrero and Paul Heyman.

Place your votes now on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, then check back here Friday to find out which Superstars advanced and to participate in the next round of voting.

The four #1 seeds are Batista, John Cena, The Undertaker and Rey Mysterio, which is fine. I know they went by win percentages, but that’s not the best way to do it. Putting Edge as only a 5 seed is wrong. Edge should be a 1 or 2 seed because he was the top heel on the brand for many years, not to mention the years before that when he was rising babyface.

The regions are named after four former Smackdown General Managers: Teddy Long, Paul Heyman, Vickie Guerrero and Paige. Stephanie McMahon was also a GM on Smackdown, but they decided not to name a region after her. Daniel Bryan was in the spot for a few years too. It doesn’t matter.

Anyway, all of WWE’s social media accounts have put the polls up, so vote and we’ll see how it ends up.
