Beloved WWE Star Tipped To Become A Despicable Heel In 2026

WWE analyst thinks beloved babyface star Sami Zayn should turn heel.

Zayn has lost his momentum in WWE since losing the United States Championship to Ilja Dragunov in October 2025.

Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts commented on Zayn’s future, saying that there’s nothing left for his babyface character to accomplish in WWE, and therefore, he should turn heel and become someone like Drew McIntyre.

I would honestly turn Sami Zayn heel. The same way I said that Drew McIntyre has kind of done everything that he’s gonna do as a heel. I feel like Sami Zayn has done everything that he can do as a baby face.

I don’t know what else there is for Sami Zayn to do as a baby face. I feel like we’ve told those stories. I think that Sami Zayn cutting his hair, trimming down the beard, and becoming a heel, whether it’s with Paul Heyman, whether it’s on his own, whether it’s with somebody else.

WWE Star Sami Zayn Needs A Character Change

Roberts predicted a program where Zayn could target the new guys who are coming up to the main roster from NXT.

You know, maybe Sami Zayn is this guy who is going to beat up the new guys, right? Maybe Sami Zayn is this guy who doesn’t like all these NXT guys coming up and the NXT guys are going to stop Sami Zayn or what?

I mean, however you want to do it. But I think Sami Zayn should turn heel just based on, you know, he’s done everything else. (From 1:04:55)

On the January 2, 2026 episode of SmackDown, Zayn cut a promo, opening up about watching John Cena’s retirement match from the front row with his son, who questioned why he lacked a world title.

He vowed to end his championship drought, but was interrupted by newly called-up NXT star Trick Williams.
