Why WWE’s 2025 Iron Man Is Still A Part-Timer
One name wrestled more than anyone else in WWE in 2025, but even their number of matches would make stars of the past shake their heads.
WWE has made a slate of changes since being taken over by Endeavor in 2023. Among the most obvious is the extent to which WWE has cut down its calendar. House shows have all but been eliminated in the United States, and the effect that has on the stars of the company has been laid bare.
A report from Wrestling Observer has laid out how many matches, wins, and losses, each WWE star had in 2025. It may surprise some fans and make wrestlers who competed over 300 times a year in the eighties and nineties extremely envious to find out that the star who wrestled most times for WWE in 2025 only had 64 matches.
LA Knight Competes In Most WWE Matches In 2025
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer delved into the numbers and noted that cutting down on the calendar has not helped the injury rate:
The most anyone worked this year in the entire WWE was LA Knight with 64 matches, and before that, it would be considered part-time work. Je’Von Evans got to work 59 matches, so they did have him in the ring more than most, more than anyone really.
[…] Before that would have been considered a low number, and now it’s the highest of the high. Cutting back on matches didn’t help the injury rate. Some people are not getting enough matches at a rate where you can put them on the main roster and headline with them.
Seth Rollins only competed 19 times in 2025, but he was still forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship due to suffering a serious injury at Crown Jewel after a wild spot in his match with Cody Rhodes.
