Why Naomi & Sasha Banks Walked Out Of WWE Finally Revealed

The real reason for Naomi and Sasha Banks walking out of a live WWE Raw has now finally been revealed.

In May 2022, Sasha Banks and Naomi were the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but behind the scenes, trouble was brewing. The pair ended up walking out of a live Raw show, forcing WWE to make a major change to a planned match and supposedly left their title belts with then-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis.

WWE made the rare step of mentioning this on-screen, shaming the two stars publicly and announcing their suspension. Both Naomi and Banks ultimately left the company, with Banks going on to become Mercedes Mone in NJPW and later AEW, and Naomi becoming Trinity in TNA.

In TNA, Trinity captured the Knockouts Title before she ultimately made her peace with WWE and returned to the company in 2024.

Naomi & Sasha Banks Unhappy With WWE Match

Naomi danced around the issue in the second season of WWE Unreal, but on the same show, lead WWE writer Ed Koskey explained exactly why they walked away from the company. Pettily, Koskey refused to mention Sasha Banks by name:

Naomi and her partner were gonna be in a six-pack challenge to see who was going to get a title shot at the next PLE.

Naomi and her partner weren’t comfortable at that point being in a match where they’d be pitted against each other.

Naomi is currently out of action due to her pregnancy. That forced her to vacate the Women’s World Championship late in the summer of 2025.
