The New Day Get A Blockbuster Offer Following WWE Departure

New Day WWE
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston left WWE.

A top AEW star gave a huge offer to The New Day following their WWE departure last week.

On May 2, 2026, The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods mutually parted ways with WWE. They were reportedly asked by TKO to restructure their existing contracts to lower-paying deals, which both stars declined without hesitation. Both had signed new multi-year deals with the company last year, contracts valued well into the seven figures that would have carried them through 2030.

WWE sources described the departure as shocking. Both men are currently under 90-day non-compete clauses, opening the free-agent market around late July 2026.

Kingston and Woods are two of the top stars, and many companies, including AEW, will be interested in signing them. A lot of names inside the Jacksonville-based promotion have already pushed internally for the company to sign both Kingston and Woods. The most direct pitch, however, came from The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley.

Bobby Lashley wants The New Day to join AEW and his faction

While speaking on 3NT Wrestling and Dirt Sheet Radio, Bobby Lashley confirmed The Hurt Syndicate, which currently consists of Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP,  is actively targeting the duo.

He praised the former World Tag Team Champions and said that if they join The Hurt Syndicate in AEW, the group will be unstoppable.

Man, I tell you what, I think the problem that we have right now is that the Hurt Syndicate is too strong. If we bring those guys on there, we’d be just unstoppable. You know, I don’t think there’s any guess game in what’s going to happen next. I think Kofi and Woods, I think they’re just like amazing talent, and I think that anybody and everybody is going to throw in their money to try to pick those guys up.

The All Mighty said he likes Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods and hopes they sign with All Elite Wrestling. Lashley said he would love to work with the former New Day members in AEW, and the group will welcome them if they want to join The Hurt Syndicate.

Hopefully they come to AEW, and if they do, we’ll try to get them if we can because I would love to be able to work with those guys. I like those guys. I’ve worked with those guys for years over at the other organization, and if they came over here and wanted to be a part of the Hurt Syndicate, it’s game on. [H/T Wrestling Headlines]

It will be interesting to see what’s next for the former New Day members when they become free agents and where they end up signing.
