Road Dogg Claims TNA Were Willing To Pay WWE $1M For DX Match

D-Generation X - Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, Triple H, X-Pac (Sean Waltman) and Billy Gunn

WWE Hall Of Famer The Road Dogg has discussed how TNA were looking to put $1 million on the table if they were able to get DX involved in a match.

Following exploits in The New Age Outlaws alongside Billy Gunn, The Road Dogg was drafted in to D-Generation X when the stable rebuilt following the departure of Shawn Michaels after WrestleMania 14.

Whilst their run in WWE was memorable, both men had left WWE by 2005 and ended up signing with IMPACT Wrestling, at the time under the TNA banner. The team would reunite as the Voodoo Kin Mafia, playing off the initials of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

It was during this time the team would make a $1 million challenge to the newly reformed version of DX in WWE, as Triple H and Shawn Michaels had reunited. The challenge was ignored by WWE, meaning the Voodoo Kin Mafia declared themselves as the winners.

Speaking on his ‘Oh… You Didn’t Know’ podcast, The Road Dogg has now commented on the challenge, claiming that TNA was ready to put the money up if a match were to happen.

What I’ve been told, and to this day, I don’t know if it is any different, [TNA] was going to give a million dollars if we would have a match with those guys. They were going to pay a million dollars to have a match and if you were a millionaire, multi-multi-multi millionaire and somebody told you if you do this, we might get a match with the other company and what if we cross breed our products? You could sell a millionaire on that pretty easily.

I would go like, okay, crap, if you’re telling me that might happen, okay, I’m down. I think Dixie was down, there were a million dollars on the line, and I never really thought we would have it, but if they were willing to give the money, maybe something would happen here. All that may be phony baloney, and I was behind the scenes so I don’t know the truth but that’s what they told me, hey, we’re going to give them a million bucks if they do this.
