Released WWE Superstar Makes Surprising Return

A recently released WWE star made their wrestling return in the indies.

Kay Lee Ray, aka Alba Fyre, was one of the talents released by the Stamford promotion after WrestleMania 42. Ray’s success in the company came across different stages, starting with participation in the Mae Young Classic.

She was also a regular on NXT UK and later on NXT in the United States before making her main roster debut with SmackDown in May 2023.

At the time of her release on April 24, 2026, KLR was a part of The Green Regime, as Alba Fyre, alongside Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, although Niven had been written off due to a neck injury.

During her time on NXT, Ray became a one-time NXT Women’s Champion (w/Isla Dawn) and the NXT UK Women’s Champion once. She also won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Dawn once.

Former WWE Star Kay Lee Ray Makes In-Ring Return

A few days ago, Kay Lee Ray’s in-ring return outside WWE was being heavily teased.

UK promotion Pro Wrestling EVE would host History Makers / Rule Breakers on June 5, where she was specualted to challenge Molly Spartan.

KLR, who is a former Pro Wrestling EVE Champion, made her appearance after Spartan issued an open challenge. However, this was not before the event saw a fake-out with Abi Cartwright coming out to a changed name, Abi Fyre.

It was followed by the former WWE star coming out. The commentators ensured to put her over with a statement, calling her as someone who embodies indie women’s wrestling.

Anyone who is anyone in women’s professional wrestling has stepped through those ropes. Legends, pioneers, women in the beginning of their careers, women making a name for themselves, nobody has ever personified Pro Wrestling Eve more than Kay Lee F***ing Ray — and she is back home. AEW star Will Ospreay, who serves as one of the producers and a member of the promotion’s creative team, shared the video of her return on his X account.

After answering the challenge by Molly Spartan, KLR won after hitting her signature Swanton Bomb.
