Real Reason Cody Rhodes Won’t Turn Heel In WWE

Cody Rhodes Promo

Those hoping to see a darker side of Cody Rhodes in WWE might be in for a disappointment.

Cody Rhodes was a beloved hero when AEW started alongside his partners in The Elite. While The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega’s status in that company ebbed and flowed as they embraced their inner-villain when it suited the product, Rhodes did not.

And eventually, the crowd got tired of seeing what they saw as the same old act, especially when it meant Rhodes ended up in increasingly bizarre feuds, with the nadir being the one against Anthony Ogogo with overt racial overtones. But Rhodes refused to give in to the fans and would not turn heel. Eventually, he left the company he helped build to return to WWE, where he has been an all-conquering hero for four years. Once again, an increasing number of fans are starting to ask, “What else?” from the American Nightmare.

But once again, it seems Rhodes is not for turning.

Cody Rhodes Wants To Remain WWE Babyface

Speaking on Live with Kelly & Mark, Cody Rhodes confirmed his commitment to being a babyface, simply because he finds the role to be a lot of fun:

For a long time, there were a lot of anti-heroes. Just recently, it felt like WWE hit this stride with so much youth in the audience that it felt like babyfaces came back to life. Jey Uso, for example, is somebody that the kids go crazy for. Sami Zayn is out there doing it. And for me to be able to be in that spot, I don’t want to leave it. It’s so much fun.
