Surprising NXT Star Has Become Brand’s Locker Room Leader
An NXT is inspiring the rest of the locker room.
Following WrestleMania 41, Stephanie Vaquer, Roxanne Perez, and Giulia were all left NXT for the main roster after dominating the main event picture for WWE’s third brand.
However, the star power in the women’s division remained high with Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe (Mariah May) taking centre stage. Two women who are widely regarded as two of the best female performers in North America.
However, it was a different star who recently grabbed the headlines. Despite not having the same big-name reputation, Jacy Jayne became the NXT Women’s Champion in May, before adding the TNA Knockouts Title at Slammiversary.
In doing so, Jayne became the first WWE contracted wrestler to hold the Knockouts Title. Although Jacy Jayne later lost the Knockouts Title to Ash By Elegance, she’s scheduled to defend the NXT Women’s Title against Lola Vice at No Mercy.
In a new interview with No Contest Wrestling Podcast, Vice described Jayne as a bitch, but went on to reveal the leadership role she’s assumed backstage.
“Jacy can be a bitch sometimes, she can, but I will say — she’s a locker room leader. She leads by example. She’s an extremely hardworking person. She never complains. She’s incredible at her job. She’s taught me a lot, and I feel like Jacy also — she’s one of the best women’s strikers that we have in wrestling that has never had a striking background before.
I like the way she thinks, and she’s so passionate about wrestling. She inspires me, even though I want her title. I’ve learned so much from her, and I’m very happy she’s in the position that she’s in.”
Shawn Michaels Talks Up NXT Roster
Meanwhile, Shawn Michaels has claimed that NXT is the best two-hour wrestling show on television. Michaels cited the brand’s relationship with the CW Network and ongoing working relationships with TNA, Pro-Wrestling NOAH, and AAA.
The WWE Hall of Famer has been heading up NXT since taking over from Triple H in September 2021 after The Game suffered a “cardiac event.” Michaels had previously been working on the brand as a coach and producer.
