Myles Borne Escapes With NXT North American Title After DarkState’s Plans Implode
The landscape in WWE NXT is changing following this past month’s Stand and Deliver event and the recent wave of NXT call-ups, which has created room on the brand to create some brand new stars.
Following in the footsteps of Ethan Page and Sol Ruca, Fatal Influence made their main roster debut on WWE SmackDown last week, while Joe Hendry made his RAW debut last night.
Page was one of the cornerstones of the brand with his incredible run as North American Champion, and his successor, Myles Borne, is carrying on the legacy and put the belt on the line once again tonight.
After some heated discussions between DarkState over the last few weeks, Saquon Shugars announced last week that he will be facing Borne for the North American Title, and their match kicked off the show tonight.
Myles Borne retains the NXT North American Title
The former tag team champion wrestled his first match for a singles title tonight, and he gave it his all to dethrone Myles Borne. Shugars dominated most of the match as he overpowered Borne.
The match turned in the champion’s favor after Shugars tried to hit a belly-to-back suplex from the top rope, but Borne shifted his weight and reversed the move on Shugars. The rest of DarkState tried to shift things back in Shugars’ favor.

Osiris Griffin and Cutler James distracted the referee as Dion Lennox tried to hit Myles with a steel chair. However, he was stopped by Saquon, and that allowed Myles to capitalize on the situation.
He shoved Shugars into Dion and hit a slingshot Borne Again on Saquon Shugars to retain his NXT North American Title. Following the match, Borne was called out by LFG’s Tristian Angles while Kam Hendrix jumped Borne from behind.
