Lex Luger Reveals If He Preferred Working As A Heel Or A Babyface
Wrestling icon Lex Luger shared insights into his career, discussing the challenges and nuances of playing both hero and villain roles.
On his podcast, Lex Expressed, the WWE and WCW legend reflected on how these character shifts shaped his career and revealed his personal preference for being the bad guy in the ring.
I was either a confident babyface or an arrogant heel. I got switched back and forth a lot, and some people thought, ‘Wow, you never know where Lex is at.’ Maybe that was a hindrance in my career.
Throughout his storied career, Lex Luger’s ability to seamlessly transition between roles showcased his adaptability. However, the frequent shifts may have left some fans unsure of his position in ongoing storylines, a factor he suggests could have impacted his long-term success. Despite the challenges, Luger admitted to favouring his time as a heel, revealing why he found it more enjoyable.
I enjoyed working both, maybe heel a little bit more. You have a little bit of autonomy. Usually, we’d call things in the ring. Ricky Steamboat taught me how to call a match, and I kind of liked doing that a little bit more.
For Luger, playing the heel allowed for more creative freedom, giving him the opportunity to control the pace of a match and engage the audience in a unique way.
Who Does Lex Luger Want To Induct Him Into The WWE Hall Of Fame?
Lex Luger isn’t currently in the WWE Hall of Fame despite his storied career. However, he has thought about who he’d like to induct him into the coveted Hall of Fame. Luger said that the first name that pops into his head when he thinks of who he’d like to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame is none other than fellow WCW legend Sting. Luger and Sting’s careers were intertwined throughout their WCW days with them both teaming up together and being fierce rivals.
