Killer Kross Wins Major World Title After WWE Exit

Killer Kross left WWE on August 10, 2025, along with his wife Scarlett, after their contracts expired and they were not given new contracts.

After his WWE release, Kross revealed that WWE did not offer him a new contract until the very end of his existing contract’s expiry.

When he asked for the metrics to justify the offer’s valuation, WWE refused to provide them and set a 24-hour deadline for him to sign, or they would rescind the offer.

It was also revealed that WWE never offered a new contract to Scarlett. For quite a while, many people within WWE itself and fans believed that Karrion Kross’ release was a work, but Kross later confirmed that he was indeed released from WWE.

Following their departure from WWE, the husband-and-wife duo joined the independent circuit. Kross worked the indies for a few months before making his return to MLW on November 20, 2025, at Don Gato Tequila, where he defeated Matt Riddle.

On the January 29, 2026 edition of MLW Battle Riot VIII, Killer Kross entered the MLW World Heavyweight Title 40-man Battle Riot match and defeated several superstars to become the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion. This marked Kross’s first reign as MLW Champion.

Killer Kross On Joining AAA

In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Killer Kross was asked if he would ever join AAA. Since AAA is under WWE, Kross said joining the Mexican promotion would be tricky but not impossible.

He said that he has a good relationship with AAA’s creative team member Konnan, so he might be able to make his way into the AAA roster through him.

Yeah, so Konnan—for anybody who doesn’t know—was like an uncle to me. And I’m in constant contact with him. Always have been, always will be. And we’ve had discussions about potentially doing something, but there’s a new chain of command that has to go through.

And I know that he would be interested to have us there, but that would probably depend on a lot of things in that place. So I told him, ‘Yeah, just keep me posted. Let me know. I’m always up to work with him in any capacity whatsoever. I trust him with my life.
