John Cena Asked AEW Star For Help During WWE Retirement Tour
John Cena’s retirement tour went on for the majority of 2025.
During this period, as one of the greatest careers in wrestling came to a close, John Cena made sure to pay homage to his rivals and friends over the years by using their moves and mannerisms during his matches, even if he couldn’t directly interact with them.
During his match against Logan Paul, Cena referenced AEW star Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro in WWE). Even though the pair never had a major rivalry, they are good friends and also part of a coffee group chat with Seth Rollins, who is a close friend of Castagnoli’s.
John Cena Asked Cesaro For His Moves
Cena felt Paul didn’t have a lot going on other than viral moments in matches and felt he needed a stronger move list.
The Champ asked Castagnoli if he could borrow some of his moves for Logan Paul, whom he thought worked and looked like Cesaro.
With Logan, he doesn’t have that many matches to go on. A lot of stuff he was doing was viral moments. ‘I need something more than that.’ We never left the ring. I saw Logan and I’m like, ‘You look and work like Cesaro.’ I called Claudio, ‘Can I borrow some stuff, please?’ ‘Are you kidding me?’ He’s part of the coffee group. ‘No problem. I can’t be there. It would be an honor.’
John Cena, who is known to be a leader and mentor to young upstarts, took this opportunity to teach Logan Paul a few moves that would help him expand his move list by sending him clips.
I’m like, ‘Logan, watch this guy. These are things I think you can do.’ I’m sending him modified clips of the super European (uppercut), the giant swing, all things I thought Cesaro did well that I think Logan can do well. ‘This might help you wih you style. Get more stuff.’ Take it from Five Moves of Doom, there is going to come a time where you need more stuff.
