Jey Uso Admits Major Mistake Almost Cost Him WWE Push

Jey Uso had an eventful Night 1 at the SummerSlam PLE.

He opened the show with his cousin Roman Reigns in their tag team match against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, with Paul Heyman accompanying the latter.

It was a good start to the show, as the four superstars delivered great back-and-forth action.

On the eve of the match, Breakker had predicted that it was his time in the sunshine, and he was going to pin Reigns.

While he dominated a good portion of the match with his tag team partner, the duo suffered a setback in the outcome.

In a move that shocked many fans, Roman Reigns saved Jey Uso from a Bron Breakker ‘Spear,’ sacrificing himself instead.

This allowed Uso to spring into action and hit the Uso Splash on Reed for a victory.

Jey Uso Admits Complacency Almost Cost Him His Push

Former World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso appeared on the SummerSlam Post-Show, where he discussed his tag team victory.

He also spoke about his dream singles run that ultimately earned him the top prize in the men’s division, when he defeated Gunther for the title at WrestleMania 41.

During his push, he was arguably the most over wrestler on the roster, with fans banding together in his support every time he showed up at a taping or a premium live event.

He acknowledged becoming complacent, which almost cost him his push.

There’s a saying, man. It’s easy to get to the top, but it’s hard to stay there. I got a little comfortable, Uce. I’m not gonna lie. I wasn’t feeling myself, started letting the gas off. I wasn’t hungry. Somebody had to tell me that. And when I watched that, you know, running it back, I was like, let me get back to the drawing board. Let’s tighten the screws up. Let’s get it right. I had no idea they would show that. I’m glad they showed it. Not everything is perfect. Sometimes you gotta get up and go to work. [24:24 onwards]

Jey Uso currently does not feature in the title picture, but his reunion with Roman Reigns is a reason for the fans to rejoice. It will be interesting to see what the upcoming RAW episode has in store for them.
