Huge AEW Name Leaves Company
Nik Sobic has officially parted ways with AEW.
Nik served as the Senior Vice President of Business Development, Partnerships, and Video Games at AEW. Sobic had been with the company since its launch in 2019 and previously worked with Tony Khan at the Jacksonville Jaguars. His duties included overseeing business operations, live events, and the company’s expansion into the gaming market.
According to a recent report from Wrestling Intel, Nik Sobic has left All Elite Wrestling. Neither the company nor Sobic has issued a public statement explaining the split yet, and the cause behind his departure is unknown.
Powerhouse Hobbs is No Longer In AEW
Around 10 days ago, former TNT and Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs also left Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling after his contract with the company ended. He has since signed with WWE, where he is reportedly expected to use the new ring name Royce Keys.
Dave Meltzer, in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, indicates that Hobbs received a more lucrative “bigger money” deal from WWE compared to AEW’s final offer. His decision was reportedly heavily influenced by what was best for his family’s future.
“Nobody in AEW had anything negative to say about him, with us being told he made the decision based on his family, which would seem to indicate he got a better money deal.
Some people go to WWE with the idea of going even with a lesser money offer, because it’s either their dream, or belief they want to be in the top place, or that it’s a better stepping stone to Hollywood than AEW. But Hobbs was a guy the company clearly really wanted and whether he was going to get much higher in AEW is a question.”
Hobbs wrestled his last match in the Jacksonville-based promotion took place on the January 17th episode of Collision, where he teamed up with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata against “Hangman” Adam Page, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight.
