CM Punk Told William Regal He Was “Triple H’s Stooge”

CM Punk William Regal

CM Punk did not have anything good to say to William Regal during his time in AEW.

CM Punk’s time in AEW has finally come to an end following his run-in with Jack Perry backstage at All In. AEW announced that Punk had been “terminated with cause” following an investigation that took on board other factors as well as the incident at Wembley.

This was, of course, not CM Punk’s first run-in with other AEW stars during his two years in the promotion with the infamous backstage fight between him and The Elite dominating the news after All Out 2022.

Tony Khan addressed Punk’s firing before Collision on the 2nd of September, the same day that the firing was announced, noting that he feared for his life backstage.

CM Punk had issues with William Regal

Now Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net has reported on another incident that seemingly took place backstage between CM Punk and William Regal when Regal joined AEW in March 2022. According to the report, Punk refused to shake Regal’s hand before getting in his face and telling Regal that he did not like or trust him and believed that the English star was “a stooge for Triple H.”

William Regal’s time in AEW did not last long as he left the company in December 2022 before returning to WWE just a few weeks later as the company’s Vice President of Global Talent Development. Regal and Triple H have maintained a close relationship since getting to know each other in WCW in the early nineties.
