CM Punk Scheduled For AEW Dynamite

CM Punk is back in AEW in a big way as he returned to the company after nine months to make clear his feelings before finding tag team success with FTR.

The Chicago crowd gave Punk a hero’s welcome when he opened the first-ever episode of Collision in explosive style. Taking jabs at “counterfeit bucks” and “soft” wrestlers, CM Punk held little back as he got a lot off his chest.

Later in the evening, the former AEW World Champion teamed with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR in a trios bout against Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe. The crowd again came unglued as old rivals Punk and Joe squared off, and in the end, it was Punk’s team that managed to pick up the victory.

There has been a belief among many that CM Punk’s role on Collision is due to the unwillingness of The Elite to make amends with him and the new show provides an opportunity for the two sides to be kept apart on a weekly basis. But things might not be as simple as that.

Fightful Select has reported that although not officially announced by AEW, those close to Punk have claimed that he is scheduled for Dynamite on June 21st which will also take place in Chicago, Illinois. Perhaps mindful of the reception they would receive in Punk’s hometown, there’s a “good chance” The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are not at that show, although it is noted pre-tapes have taken place to further their storylines.

With Forbidden Door just around the corner, AEW might want CM Punk featured as much as possible if he’s planned for a bout on the crossover show with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
