CM Punk’s Death Line On WWE RAW Upset Hall Of Famer
CM Punk using death to trash talk Roman Reigns on WWE Raw upset a Hall of Famer.
The World Heavyweight Championship match is set for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas with CM Punk defending the gold against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns, who has the most WrestleMania main events of all time.
In the main event of WWE Monday Night on March 2nd, Punk and Reigns exchanged words as each man expressed confidence about winning at WrestleMania 42.
At the end of the promo, CM Punk said Roman Reigns went from being beaten at WrestleMania to now, and Punk is going to bury him. Punk said Reigns won’t be alone anymore because Punk is going to bury him next to his father.
Roman Reigns’ father was WWE Hall of Famer Sika of the Wild Samoans, who passed away in June 2024 at age 79.
Kevin Nash Didn’t Like CM Punk Referencing Roman Reigns’ Father On WWE Raw
While some people view Punk mentioning Reigns’ dead father on Raw as basic pro wrestling trash talk, there are others who think that using death to make things personal is going too far. Anybody who has lost a loved one knows how painful death is, so it’s a line that perhaps shouldn’t be crossed.
Kevin Nash is a 2-time WWE Hall of Famer who has tragically lost a son and his best friend, Scott Hall, in recent years, so he knows the pain of death. On a recent episode of Nash’s Kliq This podcast, he spoke about his disdain for Punk mentioning Roman’s dead father in a promo on Raw.
“I don’t like that. I mean, it just—[clears throat]—you know, I’m not even going to make reference to it because whoever’s idea it was, on any level, if death is funny, may it be on your doorstep the next f****g day.
I’d imagine something like that would have to go through creative. I don’t think Phil would have just done that to Roman. I’d rather just not talk about it.” (H/T Ringsidenews)
Roman Reigns is not advertised for the March 9th edition of WWE Monday Night, but WWE is promoting him for the March 16th episode of Raw, so that will be when the Tribal Chief fires back at CM Punk’s personal insult.
