Latest Chris Jericho Update Ahead Of WWE Elimination Chamber

Chris Jericho

For a couple of weeks now, WWE has been teasing fans with a mystery crate.

As soon as the huge box appeared for the first time on the February 16 taping of Raw, fans began speculating that Chris Jericho could be inside it.

Y2J’s return to the Stamford promotion has been teased since late last year, but nothing yet has come to pass.

Chris Jericho was first expected to appear on the January 5 episode of the red brand, which celebrated Raw’s first anniversary on Netflix. It was then followed by a potential surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble.

Unfortunately, none of that happened, and with the crate appearing multiple times on both Raw and SmackDown, it was decided that managers of both brands would open it on Saturday at the Elimination Chamber.

Chris Jericho Unlikely To Appear At The Elimination Chamber

A recent report from Fightful Select claimed that the chances of Chris Jericho appearing in Chicago on February 28 are next to none.

The 55-year-old is still listed as a talent on AEW’s roster page, indicating that his contract might have been extended due to his absence from taping since April 2025.

An earlier report even stated that his contract might have been frozen from the time he decided to take time off.

Additionally, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, too, echoed similar sentiments.

The whole idea of freezing a contract… if you’re out for a period of time, they can add that time back on. That’s standard in wrestling contracts.

With multiple reports claiming that Chris Jericho is still a part of AEW, it is unlikely that he will appear at the Elimination Chamber PLE.

As for the contents of the mystery crate, it is believed that it contains former All Elite Wrestling star Danhausen, who seemingly generated interest from WWE.
