Carlito made his WWE return at Fastlane by teaming up with the LWO to win a big six-man tag team match.
This past Friday on WWE Smackdown, Bobby Lashley beat Rey Mysterio in a singles match thanks to an assist from The Street Profits at ringside. The Street Profits duo injured (in storyline) Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro of the Latino World Order during the match.
Later in the show, Rey Mysterio was talking to Santos Escobar & Zelina Vega about how Wilde & Del Toro were unable to team with them in the six-man tag team match at Fastlane. Rey said he would make a phone call to try to get them a partner.
That led to WWE Fastlane in Indianapolis on Saturday with Rey & Santos wrestling against Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) in a 2-on-3 match. The idea was that Rey called a partner, but he didn’t show up at the start of the match.
As the match was going on, Carlito’s new music hit and he made his way down to the ring in his wrestling gear. Carlito went on the apron, got the tag and Rey/Santos cleaned house while Carlito hit a Backstabber on Ford for the pinfall win.
It wasn’t made clear yet if Carlito is officially in the LWO group, but we should find out more on Smackdown because Carlito is under WWE contract, so he should be around television moving forward.
Carlito was signed by WWE in June
In June, Carlito said that he had signed with WWE and was no longer taking indy dates. Since then, fans wondered when he was going to appear on WWE TV. It seems as though WWE waited until they felt it was the right time for him to make his return, so they chose last night at Fastlane.
During his first run in WWE from 2004 to 2010, Carlito was a former Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion. He also came back for the 2021 Royal Rumble that took place in front of no fans at the ThunderDome and won a tag team match with Jeff Hardy the next night on Raw.
The story of Carlito being the LWO’s tag team partner was spoiled by PWInsider Elite prior to Fastlane taking place.
