Bully Ray Doesn’t Know Why He Should Care About Damage CTRL

Bayley IYO SKY Dakota Kai Damage CTRL

Bully Ray has discussed how he just doesn’t get Damage CTRL, even though he’s a fan of one member of the team.

Damage CTRL officially formed at SummerSlam 2022, when Bayley returned at the end of the Raw Women’s Championship match to confront Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. What many didn’t expect was her to be accompanied by NXT’s Iyo Sky (the former Io Shirai) and the returning Dakota Kai.

Sky and Kai have since gone on to be two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, most recently reclaiming the belts at Crown Jewel. However, it would seem that this success has still not impressed WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray.

In a discussion on Busted Open Radio, the former multi-time Tag Team Champion noted that he’s a fan of Bayley, but doesn’t give a damn about the faction.

I’m begging somebody to call this show and smarten me up as to why I should give one damn about Damage CTRL right now. I don’t get it, I don’t know. I don’t sit here on Tuesday mornings and go, ‘Oh boy, I can’t wait to talk about Damage CTRL and bury them.’ No, I’ve separated this as much as I can. I like Bayley on her own, end of story.

Continuing on, Bully Ray commented that he understands having a trio together heading in to Survivor Series is useful, but that he hasn’t been a fan of the team right from the start.

I know why Damage CTRL has to be a thing rolling into Survivor Series, and they’re gonna have Rhea on their side now, and Mia Yim is on Bianca Belair’s side. I get it but, as far as that unit is concerned, I didn’t get it from day one. I wasn’t into it from day one and I’m not into it now.

At Survivor Series: WarGames on 26th November, Damage CTRL will team with Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross to take on Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Mia Yim and a so-far mystery partner in a five-on-five tag match.
