Breaking: Former Champion Returning To WWE, Likely To Be Added To WrestleMania 42 Match
A former champion has signed a new deal with WWE and is likely going to take part in a WrestleMania match.
The first-ever WWE NXT Women’s Champion and 2-time Divas Champion has re-signed with the company – Paige is back!
PWInsider reports that Paige is going to be a WWE superstar again, nearly eight years after she was medically disqualified from competing due to a serious neck injury.
After her WWE contract expired in 2022, Paige signed with AEW and competed using her real name of Saraya. While working for AEW, Saraya was cleared to return to the ring and went on to win the AEW Women’s Title. After three years, Saraya departed AEW in March 2025.
The report from PWInsider’s Mike Johnson notes that Paige has “signed to return as a wrestler for WWE and is expected to return to the ring this weekend as part of Wrestlemania 42.”
Regarding her WrestleMania role, PWInsider reports that Paige could fill in for Nikki Bella as Brie Bella’s partner in the Women’s Tag Team TItle match because Nikki Bella hasn’t been cleared to return from the ankle injury she suffered in a SmackDown match a few weeks back.
It was added that WWE secretly flew Paige into Las Vegas for Wrestlemania weekend, and she’s been hidden from the public, but she did participate in a run-through of the 4-way tag team match.
The 4-way Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania 42 will see the Irresistible Forces team of Nia Jax & Lash Legend defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins – Nikki & Brie Bella (if Nikki were healthy), and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria.
For now, it appears that WWE wants Paige’s return to the company to remain a secret, but it’s also possible that they announce it because word is getting leaked out.
Paige Was Hoping For A WWE Return After Seeing Other Women Wrestlers Back In The Ring
During Paige’s WWE career in the 2010s, she competed with the likes of AJ Lee and The Bella Twins many times. After all of them returned to the ring over the last year, Paige spoke about how great it has been to see them in the ring again and how she would like to be back with them.
“I wasn’t shocked about Nikki because she loves the business, and I feel like she’s just meant to be there.
Then with AJ, I was only shocked about her because I thought she would never come back again. It took 10 years for her to come back, so it was such a wonderful surprise to see her. I’m so proud of her, and I’m so happy for her. I just absolutely adore her.
She’s my fairy godmother is what I always called her. It just feels so nice to see my girls back in the old squared circle again. I’m proud of them.
There’s a bittersweet feeling where I’m like, damn. At times, I wish I could get in the ring with them and stuff like that.
Then sometimes I’m like, no, this is their time, and they’re going to do and flourish the way they need to. But I’m proud of them, nonetheless.”
At 33 years old, the former Women’s Champion Paige is set to rejoin her friends in a WWE ring once again.
