Apollo Crews can be added to the list of those who feels William Regal heading back to WWE can only be a positive for everyone working there.
At the start of 2022, WWE made a raft of changes which included the release of a number of their staff. This shockingly included William Regal, who had been one of the figureheads of NXT for many years.
However, after debuting for AEW in March and staying there for a number of months, Regal asked for his contract not to be extended so that he could return to WWE. It is believed that the deal has been agreed and he will return in January 2023 – although will only be in a backstage capacity for the first 12 months.
Speaking with The Metro, Apollo Crewws has discussed how much he feels William Regal has to offer everyone once he returns.
I feel like there’s a lot of young kids – not just young kids, but anybody can benefit from somebody with credentials like William Regal. If it’s something that’s happening, it’s gonna be fantastic for a lot of the younger kids, all of us, to get the knowledge and experience of someone who’s so well traveled, so well-versed. He’s been around for as long as I’ve been watching wrestling, really. I’m all for it.
Apollo Crews went on to talk about how grateful everyone should be to have the opportunity to learn from someone like William Regal.
I think that that’s one of those things where you’ve got to sit back and look and understand how grateful you should be to have somebody like that being able to teach you on a regular basis. It doesn’t get better than that, right?
On the flip side of the coin, there are plenty of people in AEW who were sad to see Regal go, including Ricky Starks.
