AJ Styles has begun his new career after his WWE retirement.

The veteran star put his career on the line against Gunther at the Royal Rumble in January. He failed to defeat The Ring General and, as a result, was forced to retire from in-ring competition.

On the February 23 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, WWE held a special tribute segment for him in his home state of Georgia, where The Undertaker made a surprise appearance and revealed that Styles will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Following his WWE retirement, AJ Styles officially launched his YouTube podcast channel called The Phenomenally Retro Podcast on March 6. The podcast is dedicated to retro and modern gaming, as well as pro wrestling. He then released the first episode on March 8. Alongside the WWE Hall of Fame inductee AJ Styles, the podcast is hosted by Tony Giles.

AJ Styles’ Post-Retirement Role In WWE

In the debut episode of his new podcast, AJ Styles revealed his post-retirement role in WWE. He disclosed that he has taken on the role of a talent scout for WWE, where he will scout talent at various levels and help bring them to the Stamford-based promotion.

He also revealed that he has been tasked with mentoring younger talents and helping them improve their wrestling skills.

“I’m on the internet checking out talent because that’s part of my job with WWE now. I’m looking at different wrestlers and seeing what I can do to help them, maybe help them improve with little things. If there’s a possibility of them getting something like a WWE ID or moving closer to WWE, then hopefully I can help make that happen.”

“Right now things are a little slow, but there will be phone calls that need to be made to make sure I’m doing my job. And it’s not just about independent talent. It also includes NXT talent and sometimes even main roster talent.”

“For example, I’m going to Seattle for the next Monday Night Raw to talk with some talent. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to about how they’re feeling or what they want to work on. Maybe they want to go down to the Performance Center and improve certain things. I’m there to help with that.”

“If I can help keep morale high and support the talent in a positive way, that’s what I want to do. There are a lot of different things involved in this role, and as time goes on the job will probably change and grow. But right now, that’s mainly what I’m focused on.”
