AEW Star Pays Tribute To CM Punk

CM Punk AEW

One AEW star has paid tribute to CM Punk after he was fired by the company.

CM Punk is no longer All Elite after AEW announced that he had been “terminated for cause with immediate effect” following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In. Tony Khan is also believed to have been involved in an incident with Punk and Khan has since claimed that he was left feeling his life was in danger as a result.

Recent reports have indicated that AEW might well have known that Punk was going to be let go days before it was announced publicly as they informed US broadcast partners Warner Bros Discovery that the soft brand split between Dynamite and Collision was set to come to an end.

CM Punk departure marked by AEW star

CM Punk had been the cornerstone of Collision following his return in the summer of 2023 and another star in the company had also emerged as a mainstay of the new Saturday night show. Andrade El Idolo had not appeared on AEW television in nine months before re-emerging on Collision, where he is currently undefeated after three matches on the show.

Taking to social media, Andrade El Idolo paid tribute to CM Punk and said he still hopes that the two one day face off in the ring:

“Thank you @CMPunk#AEWCollision I hope and we meet again but face to face in the ring. We have a pending match!”

Andrade El Idolo last competed on the 29th of July edition of Collision where he defeated Buddy Matthews in a Ladder Match to reclaim his coveted mask.
