Backstage News On The Rock & Undertaker Working More Before The End Of 2015
The online home for all WWE merchandise, WWEShop.com, has recently moved The Rock’s profile from being a part of the “Alumni Roster” to now being apart of the “Current Roster.” Although this is a small move, it is nevertheless an important one. This change from the WWE Shop’s website is apparently not a mishap on the WWE’s part, as this move was made for a reason.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that The Rock and the WWE brass are in serious negotiations about working together again before the year’s end. This news is coming from the WWE’s promotions department.
Monday Night Raw has been struggling with their ratings for the past month. The NFL season always puts a damper on Raw’s ratings this time of year, but two weeks ago Raw’s ratings dropped lower than they ever have before and this week’s edition of Raw wasn’t much better. With the ratings being what they are and with John Cena taking time off in November and most of December, there have been rumors that the WWE would make a big move soon and bringing back The Rock seems to be it.
Another future WWE Hall of Famer, The Undertaker, is reportedly open to working more dates for the WWE after his Hell in a Cell match against Brock Lesnar on October 25th. The Undertaker’s reason for being willing to work more dates for this year than in previous years is because he has apparently healed fully from surgeries and various other injuries that were plaguing him for a long time.

The news of bringing The Rock back, possibly sooner than originally planned, does not come as much of a surprise to me. The past two week’s ratings for Raw seems to have company officials behind-the-scenes sweating profusely. A big move was going to be made soon to try and boost the numbers and this is the right one. The Rock’s is one of the absolute, biggest celebrities on the planet right now and his presence will help the show’s numbers for sure.
It has looked like for quite some time now that the WWE has their mind set on having The Rock in a match against Triple H at next year’s WrestleMania 32. This could be an opportunity to continue the build that feud. I would much rather like to see The Rock face Lesnar or Reigns come WrestleMania time, but the possibility of that coming to fruition doesn’t look too good.
In regards to The Undertaker, I’m not too sure how much I buy the fact that he is physically feeling better than he has in years. It seems as if every time he competes he’s either passing out from exhaustion before entering the gorilla position or is being carted away on an ambulance for pushing himself too far. It’s certainly nice to hear that The Undertaker feels he’s physically doing better. Aside from the ending, I really enjoyed his match against Lesnar at Summer Slam and thought he looked great. I just don’t know if he should be stepping in the ring more often when by the end of every match he seems 100% spent. I don’t know, maybe I’ll change my tune depending on how Taker looks leaving Hell in a Cell.
