Jon Moxley Responds To WWE WrestleMania Rumours

Jon Moxley AEW

Jon Moxley is wondering what all the fuss is about.

At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns in arguably the most chaotic main event of all time, but some fans thought there might be even more surprises. During the match, The Rock, John Cena, The Undertaker, Solo Sikoa, and both Usos and Seth Rollins all got involved, and it’s since been reported that Steve Austin was originally scheduled to appear.

When Rollins made his big entrance he did so in full Shield gear, with the old Shield music. This led thousands of fans to wonder whether they were about to witness the impossible, and the sight of Jon Moxley back in a WWE ring.

During a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Moxley revealed he slept through the madness after traveling to Japan.

“I was asleep in Japan when that was going on,” said Moxley, who had traveled to Tokyo for a tag match with Shota Umino against Jack Perry and Ren Narita. “When I woke up, I had these messages saying, ‘I thought you were coming out!’ And I was like, ‘Coming out where?’

“It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep.”

It’s since been confirmed there was no approach from WWE to AEW to try and get Jon Moxley for the event.

Jon Moxley Set For Huge Title Match On AEW Dynamite

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Jon Moxley will defend his newly-won IWGP Heavyweight Title against Powerhouse Hobbs on the April 24th edition of Dynamite.

Looking ahead to his match with Hobbs, Moxley said it’s time to “see what he’s got.”

“One of the first times Will Hobbs was on TV, we were in the ring together at Daily’s Place,” said Moxley. “There was so much to like about him, and he’s worked really hard. Now, back in that same building, we’ll see what he’s got.

I’ve got a lot of plans for Japan. Hobbs comes first.”

In winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, Moxley became the first man to have held World Championship gold in NJPW, WWE, and AEW.
