Cody Rhodes Refuses To Quit At WWE Clash At The Castle

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has continued his dominant run as WWE Champion as he forced AJ Styles to quit at Clash at the Castle in Scotland.

AJ Styles failed to defeat Cody Rhodes for the WWE Title at Backlash France but still wanted another bite at the cherry after Rhodes retained his gold again in Saudi Arabia against Logan Paul. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis had other ideas however and told Styles he’d be starting his quest for the title from the back of the line.

That led AJ Styles teasing his retirement as he noted he didn’t have time left to start from the beginning again so was choosing to end things on his own terms. Perhaps, people should have caught on when he invited Cody Rhodes to the ring and an emotional Rhodes paid tribute to The Phenomenal One.

However, AJ Styles has a lot left in the tank and attacked Rhodes, getting under The American Nightmare’s skin enough to be able to jump the line and get another shot at the WWE Championship. Cody Rhodes had one condition though and an I Quit match was made for Clash at the Castle.

Cody Rhodes Stands Tall In Scotland

The WWE Clash at the Castle PLE started with the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles. Referee Dan Engler was on hand with a microphone to ask the competitors if they quit during the match.

They would go on to have a very physical battle with tables broken, chairs used, kendo sticks, a leather belt and even handcuffs. Styles handcuffed Cody’s hands together, but Cody made the comeback, found the key and took control after that. Cody’s mom Michelle was also at ringside and she was taunted by Styles throughout the match, which led her to slap Styles a few times.

After nearly 30 minutes of action, Styles was backed into the corner when Cody threatened to hit him with the steel steps. Styles quit at that point to give Cody the win. After the bell, Cody hit Styles with the steel steps anyway.

When the match was over, Solo Sikoa appeared to have a staredown with Cody Rhodes. The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa attacked Cody from behind, but Randy Orton & Kevin Owens were there to save Cody from the attack.
