Cody Rhodes Announces Injury At WWE Live Event

Cody Rhodes WWE

Cody Rhodes is in bad shape following SmackDown.

Jacob Fatu made his long-awaited WWE debut on the June 21st episode of SmackDown, and the Blue brand will never be the same. In the show’s main event, Cody Rhodes took on Solo Sikoa, but moments into the match Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa interfered causing the disqualification.

As The Bloodline put the boots to the American Nightmare, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens ran to the ring to help, but Sikoa and company had another surprise in store. Fatu emerged from nowhere and quickly dispatched Owen and Orton before turning his attention to Rhodes.

The former MLW star demolished Rhodes, driving him through the announce table with a Frog Splash from the top rope.

Fatu reportedly signed with WWE prior to WrestleMania after finishing up with MLW in February.

Cody Rhodes Injured

Following SmackDown, WWE headed to the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois for its latest live event. On the show, Rhodes defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to retain his World Championship, but after the match, he addressed the attack on SmackDown.

In a clip shared on social media, the star announced he’d suffered broken ribs in the attack by Fatu.

While there’s been no comment from WWE, the injury angle is expected to be part of Rhodes’ ongoing storyline.
