1989 – The fifth non-televised WWE King of the Ring event took place in Providence, Rhode Island. Tito Santana defeated his former tag-team partner Rick Martel in the final. In addition, Dusty Rhodes defeated the Big Boss Man in a singles match to further their feud on television as we headed towards the Survivor Series where they would be captains on opposing teams.

1995 – WWE Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels was assaulted outside a nightclub in Syracuse, New York.

1996 – On the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw before ‘In Your House: Buried Alive’ Shawn Michaels squared off against Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Jim Ross interviewed with Mr Perfect ahead of his upcoming in-ring return against Hunter Hearst Helmsley. After weeks of further teasing Jake “The Snake” Roberts squared off against Jerry “The King” Lawler in a rematch from SummerSlam.

2002 – Chris Jericho and Christian won the WWE World Tag Teams titles from Kane & The Hurricane on the go-home edition of WWE Raw from Montreal for the No Mercy PPV. Also, The Big Show faced Booker T in a “Fall Counts Anywhere” match, and in the main event, Triple H faced Rob Van Dam in a Lumberjack match.

2002 – Yuji Nagata defeated Kazuyuki Fujita for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at the NJPW The Spital event in Tokyo.

2005 – Bryan Danielson retained the ROH World Heavyweight Title against Austin Aires in the main event of ROH Enter The Dragon from Wilmington, Ohio. On the undercard, Abyss defeated Jack Evans, Roderick Strong faced Jimmy Yang and Sal Rinauro & Tony Mamaluke defended the ROH World Tag Team Titles against BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs.

2007 – Sting won the TNA World Heavyweight Title from Kurt Angle in the main event of TNA Bound For Glory. On the undercard AJ Styles & Tomko won the TNA World Tag Team titles from Rasheed Lucius Creed (Now known as Xavier Woods) & Ron Killings, Gail Kim won the TNA Knockout Championship in a Gauntlet match, Samoa Joe faced Christian Cage, and Rick & Scott Steiner faced Brother Devon & Ray in a Tag Tables 2 out of 3 falls match.

2009 – WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano passed away from a heart attack at the age of 76 in Westchester County in New York. Albano was a popular figure and showman in the wrestling industry and during his 42-year career guided fifteen different tag teams, and three singles competitors to championship gold mainly in the WWWF and WWF. Albano was also recognisable in mainstream entertainment in the 1980s and appeared in films and TV shows such as Wise Guys and Miami Vice. He also featured in several of Cyndi Lauper’s music videos as her father for songs such as “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”.

2013 – Shawn Michaels returned to WWE Raw in St. Louis, Missouri to address Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan ahead of their forthcoming WWE Championship match at Hell In A Cell. Also, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins defended their WWE Tag Team Championship against Cody Rhodes & Goldust in a No Disqualification match.

2018 – Johnny Impact defeated Austin Aires for the Impact Wrestling World Title in the main event of Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory. Also on the undercard Konnan, Ortiz & Sami Callihan faced Hernandez, Homicide & King in a 6-Man Concrete Jungle Death Match, Eddie Edwards & Tommy Dreamer defeated Killer Kross & Moose, and Tessa Blanchard defended the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Title against Taya Valkyrie.

2018 – NJPW & RevPro came together to present Global Wars 2018 from the Brixton Recreation Centre in London. In the main event, Tomohiro Ishii defeated Minoru Suzuki for the RevPro British Heavyweight Title. The undercard featured talent including Zack Sabre Jr, Timothy Thatcher, Chris Brooks, Rocky Romero, Chris Ridgeway and Will Ospreay.

2019 – The second night of the 2019 WWE draft continued on Raw from Denver in Colorado where Tyson Fury and Braun Strowman signed their contract for their forthcoming match at Crown Jewel. Also, Becky Lynch faced Charlotte Flair, and Seth Rollins paid a visit to the Firefly Fun House.

2020 – British wrestling star Ryan Smile passed away aged 31. The Birmingham-born wrestler lost his battle with his mental health.

2020 – On the first-anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley retained the World Championship against Lance Archer, Hikaru Shida did the same with the women’s belt against Big Swole, Cody Rhodes and Orange Cassidy fought to a time-limit draw for the TNT Championship, and MJF teased joining The Inner Circle and arranged a steak dinner for the following week with Chris Jericho, which would turn in to the fabled ‘Dinner Debonair’ skit.
