1978 – Championship Wrestling from Florida presented the ‘Super Bowl Of Wrestling’ from the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. In the main event, WWWF Heavyweight Champion ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham and NWA Champion Harley Race went to a 1-1 one hour draw in a 2 out of 3 falls match with both titles on the line.

1995 – WCW Clash Of The Champions took place at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hulk Hogan and ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage defeated Kevin Sullivan and The Butcher in the main event.

1997 – WCW Souled Out took place at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In the main event, Hollywood Hogan and The Giant fought to a no contest in a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match. The Steiner Brothers defeated The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) to win the WCW Tag Team Championship. The decision was overturned two nights later.

1999 – On Raw is War in Phoenix, Arizona, Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett won the WWF Tag Team Championship from Ken Shamrock and The Big Bossman. On the same night, Chyna joined The Corporation when she turned on Triple H.

2000 – WCW taped an episode of Thunder in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the show, WCW Commissioner Kevin Nash stripped WCW Champion Sid Vicious of his belt and awarded it to himself. In the main event, Vicious defeated Nash and Ron Harris in a Caged Heat match to win back the belt.

2004 – WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV took place at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Chris Benoit entered the Royal Rumble match at number one and went on to eliminate The Big Show to win the match. Also on the card, Triple H retained the World Heavyweight Championship in a Last Man Standing match against Shawn Michaels and Brock Lesnar defended his WWE Championship against Hardcore Holly.

2009 – Randy Orton won the Royal Rumble match at the PPV of the same name at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Triple H was the last man eliminated. In the three major title matches on the undercard all three titles were retained. Jack Swagger retained the ECW title against Matt Hardy, the World Heavyweight Championship was retained by John Cena against John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield and Edge retained the WWE Championship against Jeff Hardy in a No Disqualification match.

2015 – The WWE Royal Rumble PPV was held in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Roman Reigns winning the Rumble match by last eliminating Rusev. The victory was saluted by his cousin, The Rock, who joined him in the ring afterwards but fans both in the arena and watching at home reacted so badly to the result that the campaign to ‘cancel the WWE Network’ briefly picked up significant steam. On the undercard, Brock Lesnar retained the WWE Championship against Seth Rollins and John Cena in a triple-threat match which is considered one of the greatest matches in the history of the Royal Rumble PPV.

2015 – ‘PROGRESS Chapter 17: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ took place in London, UK. At the event, The Faceless defeated Mark Andrews and Eddie Dennis for the PROGRESS Tag Team Championships.

2020 – WWE presented the ‘NXT: Worlds Collide’ PPV at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The card was built around clashes between stars of NXT and NXT UK. In the main event, IMPERIUM (WALTER, Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong). One title changed hands when NXT UK star Jordan Devlin won the NXT Cruiserweight Championship in a fatal four-way match over champion Angel Garza, Travis Banks and Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott.

2021 – On an episode of Monday Night Raw, Randy Orton got revenge from Alexa Bliss throwing a fireball into his face when he appeared during her match with Asuka and hit her with the RKO.
