Ronda Rousey Says She Wants To Be WWE Divas Champion

TJR Wrestling

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey spoke at yesterday’s UFC 193 media event. During the event she talked about some of her future goals, which includes adding a few more championship’s to her collection. According to Rousey, she doesn’t plan to stop at just dominating the MMA. She continues her talk at the media event by saying how she wants to become boxing champion and jujitsu champion. However, more importantly, her next comment grabbed the attention of the WWE brass as she said that she wants to be WWE Divas Champion one day too.

Rousey made the following comments:

“What I would love to do, I got an Olympic medal, I would want to retire from MMA as one of the greatest of all time, I would love to have the chance to be the boxing world champion, and I would love to have the chance to be a jiu-jitsu world champion. I’d love to have the chance to be the Divas world champion and just be the best of everything at one point.”

Rousey’s comments about the capability of achieving these goals:

“How that is possible to do, I’m going to have to figure that out but I am trying to figure that out. I think if anybody’s capable, I think that I am. I think it’s just a matter of prioritizing and timing and figuring out when I can do which, when. I’m figuring it out. I’d love to, but it’s a process.”

Of course these comments have gotten the attention of those over at the WWE, as their Divas Champion Charlotte responded on Twitter welcoming Rousey for a shot at her championship “anytime”:

Triple H, the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative, also responded on Twitter to Rousey’s comments saying:

Mark’s reaction:

World Wrestling Entertainment has got to love this. Arguably the most dominant athlete in sports today says she wants to be your company’s Divas Champion. If you’re Vince McMahon or Triple H, this can only be good news for you. Rousey has talked plenty of times in the past about how much fun it was to be in the ring with Rock, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H at this year’s WrestleMania and how she’d love to do it again. I wouldn’t be surprised if someday down the road she decides she wants to become a part of the WWE officially.

I’d assume that when/if the day comes, she’d work a part time schedule similar to Lesnar’s. WWE’s travel schedule is pretty intense for anyone, so for someone like Rousey who the WWE desperately wants, I’m sure they’d offer her a similar part-time deal where she comes in for WrestleMania and a few other PPVs/WWE Network specials a year.

The only problem I see with Rousey competing in the Divas division is that since she’s such a beast, I can’t see any match with another WWE Diva looking realistically competitive. However, I guess you can say the same thing about Lesnar yet I’m still invested in his matches, so I’m sure I can just get used to it.

Would you like to see Ronda Rousey in WWE’s Divas division? If so, who would you like to see her square off against? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
