WWE Think Ric Flair’s Documentary Heat Is Gone

Ric Flair Woos to the crowd

A new report has discussed how Ric Flair has been reintroduced to the WWE introduction video, and why the company may feel any heat over his Dark Side Of The Ring episode may now have passed.

The Plane Ride From Hell was one of the most notable episodes to come out of season three of Dark Side Of The Ring, detailing what happened surrounding Insurrextion which took place in May 2002 in the United Kingdom. Scott Hall and Curt Hennig were released due to what took place on the flight, whilst there were also fines and lawsuits issued.

On the September 2021 episode of Dark Side Of The Ring, allegations were made by an attendant from the flight regarding sexual harassment by Ric Flair. As a result of the claims, WWE took a number of actions including removing The Nature Boy’s signature “woooo” from the show opening video, as well as removing his items from WWEShop.

WWE recently reverted to having Ric Flair once again included in the introduction video, leading to the former World Champion to comment on how pleased he was to be back in there.

A new report from Dave Meltzer at Wrestling Observer Newsletter talks about the nature of why Flair was removed from the video, and how there is now a feeling that any issues around having him involved have now blown over.

Ric Flair was put back in the television show open. The belief is that whatever heat they’d have gotten after Dark Side of the Ring aired (and they took him off) is done. They had already worked with him on the WWE Heels show as well so they were back on good terms. So it was just a matter of when WWE felt the negativity toward him had totally blown over.

Ric Flair has confirmed that he will compete in one final match at Starrcast, which will take place over SummerSlam weekend.
