WWE Stars Building Matches Around “Secret Rule”

Vince McMahon WWE Referee

WWE Superstars are apparently taking into account a secret rule in the company when putting together tag team bouts, with the rule apparently being utilized in a recent Roman Reigns bout.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that there was a moment in the Night of Champions main event between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns, and Solo Sikoa where the match official sought to enforce an unwritten rule in WWE – that the illegal man can only save their partner one time during the match legally:

“Speaking of rules, we didn’t mention it when we were reviewing the Saudi show, but there was a moment, I think it was in the main event where somebody made the save and the referee screamed, ‘That’s your one save!’ The secret rule that they still, after all of these years, they’ve never told us about but it is in fact a real rule and only the wrestlers know about it and they build their matches around this secret rule that we don’t know about.”

There was nothing the match official could do in the main event after he was taken out by a Spear from Roman Reigns. That gave the opening for The Usos to interfere in the bout which ultimately led to Jimmy Uso delivering two super kicks to The Tribal Chief as The Bloodline crumbled.
