WWE Star Dominik Mysterio’s AAA Status Revealed

Dominik Mysterio hasn’t competed in AAA since March 2026.

Ever since Dominik Mysterio turned heel a few years ago, he has become one of the biggest acts in professional wrestling. He gets a massive reaction every time his music hits. Dom also experienced a lot of success over the years. He is a former Intercontinental Champion.

Dominik Mysterio has also spent the past year in AAA, where he won the Mega Championship. At one point, Dom held the AAA Mega Championship and the Intercontinental Title simultaneously. However, the Judgment Day member has only defended the Mega Championship thrice since he won it. His last title defense was on the 11th May 2026 episode of RAW against The Original El Grande Americano. The fact that he has only defended the title a few times has raised a lot of eyebrows.

Konnan talks about Dominik Mysterio’s status in AAA

Speaking on his Keeping It 100 podcast, Konnan called Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano two of the biggest acts in AAA. He noted that people love Dom even though he is supposed to be a heel.

“What I will say is that Grande and him are the two most… even though Dom’s a heel, it’s weird because he’s a heel but the people love him, right? So they’ll put him in as a babyface, you know, just because people like him.”

Disco Inferno suggested that Dominik Mysterio was kept away from AAA because the El Grande Americano angle was so hot. Hence, any angle that Dom would’ve been in would’ve been the secondary angle, which would’ve hurt the AAA Mega Championship and the champion.

“The fact that the Grande Americano angle was so hot, you don’t want to… they haven’t really been featuring Dom because if you featured him, he would be like the second angle on the show. You don’t want to treat your champion in a secondary angle. Then you could’ve put Dom like on an angle but everybody would have looked at the Americano angle as the best angle, so you just keep him out of the way.”

Disco then asked Konna if The Undertaker prefers to protect the title and make championship matches feel important. Konnan replied in the affirmative.

It will be interesting to see who will be next in line to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Championship.
