Massive WWE Legend Pitched As John Cena’s Final Opponent
Speculations about John Cena’s final WWE opponent have been the talk of the town.
Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed the 17-time World Champion’s final appearance for Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
While the date was confirmed, the opponent was not.
This has led to fans and former wrestlers, and critics, throwing different names as their respective challengers into the hat. WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, too, has jumped on the bandwagon.
During a recent episode of his Off The Top podcast, the 59-year-old named a wrestling legend as his choice. The Rock.
Rikishi also acknowledged Edge as a contender, but was not sold on him.
For me? (…) Now the one thing that people probably never seen and would love to see. They’ve seen it back in the day, but I think at this point, I think The Final Boss and John Cena… I can go to sleep then… At the end of the day, they’re gonna say, ‘Whoa, John Cena’s last match was against The Rock.’ When you say The Rock, ‘Oh, there it is.’ But if it’s, ‘John Cena had his last match with Edge,’ does it carry a lot more weight?
Rikishi’s Tribute To John Cena’s WWE Contributions
John Cena has been in the World Wrestling Entertainment for over 23 years, debuting in 2002.
He was also the face of the promotion between 2005 and 2015, before passing the baton to Roman Reigns.
While Rikishi did not personally experience Cena’s success, he recognized everything the 17-time champion had done for the company and the industry overall.
As a result, he spoke highly about Cena during an earlier episode of his podcast.
That’s an icon. Future Hall of Famer, the man that did it all, held it down for 15 years, you know. My biggest, humble respect and thank you to John Cena. Thank you for being the leader. Thank you for showing those that when you step up in that position, how it’s supposed to be. Carry it with dignity, respect, and honor of the WWE brand, and you as a person, as a professional wrestler. I hope to see you soon, my man. See you down the road.
