WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Sycho Sid Gave Them Their Big Break
The wrestling world is still mourning the loss of Sycho Sid and now Booker T has revealed exactly how the late star kickstarted his own career.
The man known to his family and friends as Sid Eudy passed away following a battle with cancer at the age of just 63.
Wrestling fans know Eudy best as Sid Vicious, Sid Justice, or Sycho Sid but whatever the name, the fact is Sid was a two-time WWE Champion, a two-time WCW World Champion, a Horseman, a member of the Million Dollar Corporation, and a two-time WrestleMania main eventer.
WWE has led the tributes to Sycho Sid as the wrestling world is united in grief once again and on Raw there was a video package featuring the star’s greatest moments played as a mark of respect.
Booker T Reveals Career Break Thanks To Sycho Sid
Speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T revealed that he had Sid to thank for he and his brother Stevie Ray getting their big break in WCW, a company where they went on to hold tag team gold ten times:
Sid actually was the dude that got me and my brother a break. A phone call came to the Global Wrestling Federation Sports Auditorium, and pretty much the rest is history. Sid Vicious brought me and my brother in.
He said ‘Hey guys, I’m going to get you in. Probably about six months later, me and my brother were in WCW, not just in WCW, we were staying at Sid Vicious’ apartment…He didn’t have to do that. Sid didn’t have to do that. But he went out on a limb just for me and my brother, just to give us a springboard right off the bat.
Booker T then noted he was glad he got to see Sid not too long ago and pass on his gratitude for the help he received in his early career:
I’m just glad I got a chance to see Sid, I don’t know, six months to a year ago. I’m just glad I got a chance to tell Sid Vicious thank you.
