Vince McMahon Reportedly “Not Involved Directly” With WWE Creatively

Vince McMahon on the phone

The latest update on Vince McMahon’s involvement in WWE these days is that he is not involved directly in WWE storylines, according to a new report.

This past Monday on the February 27th edition of Raw, Brock Lesnar was a guest on the VIP Lounge with MVP, who was there to represent Omos. During the segment, MVP pitched Lesnar the idea of facing the 7’3″ and 400+ pound Omos at WrestleMania 39. Lesnar accepted the match while poor MVP accidentally spit Lesnar’s drink on The Beast’s clothesline. Lesnar gave MVP an F5 due to his actions, which made the fans happy since they have Lesnar.

After the Lesnar-Omos match was announced, there was a report that Vince McMahon is the one that pushed the Lesnar-Omos match through. However, since last July when Vince originally retired from his role in WWE, Paul “Triple H” Levesque took over the WWE creative and has since assured the WWE roster/staff that he (Triple H) has the final say on WWE’s creative direction.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote about the Lesnar-Omos match being made while adding that Vince McMahon is not directly involved.

“Also announced officially was Brock Lesnar vs. Omos. This match has been subject of a ton of speculation, including from the angle where MVP spit alcohol in Lesnar’s face, with people pointing to this as a sign that Vince McMahon is involved with creative.”

“From an official standpoint, McMahon is not involved directly. Paul Levesque has said that he does listen to McMahon. But Levesque also made clear that he has the final say.”

It is believed that Vince McMahon’s role in WWE presently is as the Executive Chairman of the company that is there to sell the company if they find the right deal.

This has been an ongoing story for weeks since it was revealed that Lesnar turned down a WrestleMania 39 match with Bray Wyatt, so WWE offered him Omos and apparently Lesnar is okay with that.
