“Timeless” Toni Storm Named AEW’s MVP
Toni Storm stands at the top of the AEW tree.
2025 has been another banner year in the career of Toni Storm, who has continued to cement her place as one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling.
Since the turn of the year, Storm has become AEW’s first-ever four-time Women’s World Champion while competing in memorable storylines opposite Mercedes Mone and Mariah May. Those impressive in-ring outings, combined with her unique presentation and character work, have endeared her to fans around the world.
But fans aren’t the only ones who’ve been impressed by the “Timeless” star.
Jim Ross Heaps Praise On Toni Storm
On the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, legendary commentator Jim Ross assessed the lay of the land in AEW while looking ahead to Forbidden Door in London, England.
During the conversation, Ross took a moment to praise Toni Storm, who he believes is the company’s MVP.
“I think Toni Storm is my MVP. I think she’s my favorite AEW wrestler right now. She books a lot of her own stuff, and she’s creative as hell in matches, creative like an agent would do…
Toni Storm is something special. She’s my MVP. I can’t remember her having a non-entertainment outing on television. She’s just really, really creative.”
Ross went on to explain that, in his opinion, it’s Storm’s ability to connect with a 2025 audience mixed with an appreciation for old school fundamentals that makes her stand out.
“She’s just really, really good. Everything I watched last night, she came out to the ringside, and it was the whole presentation. Her facials, her physicality, when she got involved. She’s just an old school throwback. Like I said, my MVP of AEW right now, and I’m happy that she’s doing well. She’s a real nice person.”
“Timeless” Toni Storm will make the next defence of her Women’s World Championship against Athena at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on August 24. Athena earned her shot at the gold by winning the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match at All In.
Elsewhere during the episode, Jim Ross confirmed that he’ll be calling the action at Forbidden Door. His most recent appearance also came at All In, less than two months after undergoing surgery for colon cancer.
