Shock New Champion Crowned At AEW Double Or Nothing
For over 500 days, Jade Cargill has reigned supreme in AEW as the undefeated TBS Champion but at Double Or Nothing, that all changed.
Prior to Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas, Cargill had been the only person to hold the TBS Championship which was introduced to AEW in January 2022. During her reign, Cargill saw off the likes of Anna Jay, Julia Hart, Tay Melo, Marina Shafir, Willow Nightingale, Athena, Nyla Rose, and Taya Valkyrie among many others as she remained undefeated in the company.
At Double Or Nothing, Cargill faced the challenge of Valkyrie once again, and in a closely-fought match, Cargill managed to escape with her gold and take her record to 60-0. After the bout, Mark Sterling took to the microphone and let his mouth run away with him as he issued another open challenge for Cargill’s title there and then.
The Las Vegas crowd rose to their feet when Kris Statlander answered that challenge, marking her return to action following nine months out due to a serious knee injury. Statlander managed to overcome Cargill in the impromptu match and inflict the first defeat of her AEW career. With the win, Kris Statlander marked her own first championship win as part of the AEW roster.
