Lilian Garcia Once Stood Up For WWE Legend Backstage; Stephanie McMahon’s Reaction

WWE legend Trish Stratus reveals how Lillian Garcia once stood up for her backstage.

Trish appeared on What’s His Story with Stephanie McMahon podcast, where she spoke about her Strap Match against Stephanie at No Way Out on February 25, 2001.

During the match, Stephanie McMahon repeatedly used the strap on Trish, which left her with severe and painful welts across her body. Trish explained that the damage was clearly visible after the match.

When Lillian Garcia, who was Trish’s longtime friend and former road partner, saw how badly she had been injured, she immediately reacted.

Lillian went backstage and confronted people during the producers’ meeting the next day and urged them not to use that particular strap in future matches because of how much damage it caused.

Trish Stratus Was Moved By Lilian Garcia’s Genuine Concern For Her

Trish shared that Lillian’s reaction meant a lot to her. She said that her concern and willingness to stand up for her genuinely melted her heart. Lilian’s gesture also touched Stephanie McMahon.

There was a match where there was a meeting in the morning, maybe the morning after. It could be another strap match. I think I’ve had other strap matches. Lillian felt awful because she, that night, put the salve… Okay, so she was like, “I just want to let you guys know that last night I was tending to her wounds and I had to put salve on her.”

Stephanie McMahon: It was bad. This was the producers’ meeting, which is now all of the male producers. All the boys. And me.

Trish: Yeah and she made a big thing of it, right, but innocently. She’s like, maybe next time you guys want to think about using a different strap. She just felt awful, and like maybe moving forward, people don’t have to have welts like this on their back because she couldn’t even sit. And we were driving the whole way, she had to sit forward.
