LA Knight Granted Title Opportunity On WWE SmackDown
LA Knight has been granted a title shot after sending a message on WWE SmackDown.
The 118-day reign of LA Knight as the United States champion ended at Survivor Series when Shinsuke Nakamura used underhanded tactics to take the title from Knight.
It was an interesting decision to take the US Title off Knight since he was a popular champion and Nakamura was off television for months. Nakamura returned to television, did a cheap attack on Knight, and was given a US Title match that led to the title change.
On the first WWE SmackDown episode of the year, Nakamura used some crafty tactics to defeat Andrade in a match that wasn’t for the US Title. Nakamura won by sending Andrade face first into the top of the ring post followed by a Kinshasa knee strike.
After the match, LA Knight made his entrance and went after Nakamura with punches. Knight went for the BFT, but Nakamura slipped out of it and left the ringside area. Knight did a promo saying that one way or another, he’s coming to collect what belongs to him. Knight said he’s going to continue stomping his ass until he gets the US Title back.
LA Knight Challenging Shinsuke Nakamura For US Title
Later in the show, Knight was backstage talking to SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. After the discussion, Byron Saxton interviewed Knight, who confirmed that he’ll get a shot at Nakamura and the US Title on the January 10th edition of SmackDown in Portland, Oregon.
LA Knight recently revealed that he had an idea for a stable while in WWE NXT, but obviously, it didn’t happen for him. Clearly, he’s doing very well on his own.
